In NetBEUI there is not a routing layer. Instead each host is refered
to by its MAC layer address. Because of this there is the ability to
use a MAC level bridge to internetwork two or more lans together. In
fact this works quite well. On token ring it also uses MAC level
source routing which some people consider routing even though it is
not at the network layer of the OSI model.

I also have heard talk of adding a network layer but do not know
if anything is available yet nor am I convinced that it is needed.
