Question about RS-485 to Fiber Optic Converters

HELP!

Does anyone know of a commercially available RS-485 to fiber optic
converter? This converter (or fiber optic modem) would allow me
to extend RS-485 over the 4000 ft. limit. By the way, RS-485 is
a specification that allows RS-422 differential signals to be used
in a multi-drop (bus) configuration.

Now I'm really dreaming! Does anyone know of a commercially available
fiber optic RS-485 concentrator/multiplexor? This device would allow
several RS-485 copper segments to plug into it, and it would convert
these signals into a fiber optic signal.

Thanks in advance! By the way, is there another news group that I should
post this question to (ie: communications.protocol)?

The following pictures show what I actually want to do.
