A local site is planning on setting up a "Netware 386" machine and would like to link it to a 486 machine running SVR3 Unix. Does anyone know whether Netware 386 supports tcp/ip or not? Ken Mitchum km@cs.pitt.edu

Novell is working on it right now - and look for something to be released
1Q91.

Depends on why you want your server linked to a Unix box. Or do you really want your Netware users to have access to the Unix box? Be more precise in your request. -- Tim Lange. Purdue U. that's from ftp software, right? If so, we ordered it here and should
have time to play with it sometime before the holidays --

No. PC/NFS is from SUN. PCTCP is from ftp software.

WRONG!!
PC/NFS is from SUN! PC/TCP is from ftp software.

Ken,
We are doing the same thing. What I did is call the guy that sold us Netware.
He said Novell is very aware of the problem and is promising a product soon
( first quarter 91 ??) . So I am on his call back list when that product
appears.
We use a PC version of "telnet" to log into our Suns. I will soon try
the following. (1) Install tcp/ip on the SCO Unix 486. (2) Try to use
the same "telnet" I am using now from my PC to get to the 486. You
didn't say which "SVR3 Unix" you were running, but this should work.
I'm sure the Novell stuff will (evenutally) be transparent, convienent, etc.,
BUT if you just want to log in, try getting the "National Center for Super-
Computing" 's version of PC telnet, or mail me and I will send it to you.

"ftp" from the SCO box to the PC also works fine (when NCSA Telnet is running in server mode). -- Mike Squires (mikes@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu) 812 855 3974 (w) 812 333 6564 (h) mikes@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu 546 N Park Ridge Rd., Bloomington, IN 47408 Under construction: mikes@sir-alan@cica.indiana.edu

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but we use
the Wollongong WIN/TCP product. If I use the ipx from Novell
& login to Novell, then run the wintcp stuff, I can ftp
from my "local" Novell drive (F: in my case) to & from Unix
(via ethernet; western digital in my pc, 3com in the Novell box).
We are running Novell advanced 286. In 386 boxes. SCO Xenix 2.3.1,
tcp/ip 1.0.1h and some SCO UNIX 3.2.2
Hope this helps.
