We just got out internet connection so we may connect our network to
the internet (via dialup). Unfortunatly (and not surprisingly) our
current IP address structure is not compatible:
89.x.x.x
| |i
o | |n
u | 192.232.24.x _____ _____ |t
r |----[router]-------------[ppp]--/\/\/--[ppp]----|e
| /modem\ /modem\ |r
n | ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ |n
e | |e
t | |t
w |
o |
r |
k |
|
Given the configuration above, we would like to attach other machines
we have on "our network" to the internet but are not looking forward
to the hassles of changing all of our ip addresses to suit the
internet requirements. Is there some sort of gateway/router that
would convert packets such as 89.x.x.x to 192.232.24.y given a
table? Is this at least concievable given that the masks are so much
different? If anyone has a solution, please feel free to email me.
It would be best if this can be done via a PC program (KA9Q is the
router for above) however, we do have suns at our disposal to some
extent.
Thanks in advance,
Jon
