I am trying to use the Novell LWP SLIP_PPP driver over
a Telcor TPort high-speed async serial card.  DIALUP
won't initialize my modem through this port so, I dial
up our server using another comm utility.  PPP negotiates
properly and everything works. However, when I initiate
any network activity from my PC toward the server there
is a 5-10 second pause before I see anything leaving
my serial port (observed by the LEDs on my modem).  Once
things get going the throughput is good.  If there is no
network activity for a few seconds the same thing happens
when I start something up again.

Network activity originating from the server side of the
PPP link toward my computer is responded to immediately
by the SLIP_PPP and there is no delay before my PC sends
outgoing data.  It's only when the traffic originates
from the PC.  If I have the server (Sun workstation)
continuously ping my PC over the PPP link, my traffic
initiated from the PC leaves the serial port immediately.

I called Telcor and they said this is what the call having
to prime the pump.  Takes a while for the SLIP_PPP driver
to get the data flowing over the TPort card but once it
gets going it flows well.  Stop "pumping" for a while and
the pump looses it's prime.  Weird!  They say there is 
nothing I can do.  Other software packages work fine with
the TPort card (Procomm, EtherPPP, Chameleon SLIP/PPP).

Any suggestions?
