I've had a new idea on this - get a modem and plug it into another
machine's COM1.  Next, run a null modem cable from machine 2 to the main
one.  Then, write a bit of code to link COM1 to COM2 and display all
traffic on the screen of machine 2, effectively making machine 2 a link
between the main machine and the modem.

That way, all characters that go to the modem go to machine 2's screen as
well.
