Trouble with PPP

Hello netters,

I'm having trouble with running PPP between 2 SCO systems.
The "caller" machine is SCO ODT 2.0, the "callee" machine is SCO
UNIX SysV4.2.2 with TCP/IP 1.2.1. When I cu into the callee machine
and log in as nppp, I get the normal "last login...." messages but then
I get a bunch of garbage characters.	The usr/adm/syslog file shows:

Callee machine ( when logging in manually as nppp)

Incomming call on /dev/tty1a, pid =XXX, name nppp
Connecting /dev/tty1a under PPP
ppp_rm_conn sending pid XXX SIGHUP
sig_hup	sig = 1
Incomming call on /dev/console disconnected

Nothing prints in the caller machine's syslog (makes sense to me as I'm
	just loggin in manually)

If I try to ping the callee machine the caller machine's syslog shows:

Dialing host xxxx uucp system xxxx
Dial failure host xxxx using uucp system xxxx = -6

The callee syslog shows no activity.

Any pointers?
(FWIW when i was using SLIP, all the TCP/IP commands worked fine. :-( )

Steve
