I am trying to evaluate and reccomend a network monitoring package for our ever expanding LAN. We currently have ~100-150 nodes on ethernet using DECnet and tcp/ip. We will be using fiber in the future. The questions I'm trying to answer follow. If there is enough interest, I'll summarize to the net. What are you using for network monitoring? What features do you find most useful? Most annoying? What additional features would you like to see? DO you think you will be using this software a year from now? In five years? What have your experiences been with this software, positive or negative? If you had to do it again, what would you change? On what platform is your package presently running? On what other platforms can it be used? Is your shop a multivendor or single vendor workplace? Does the package you're using have problems montoring any particular vendors' hardware? Whose? Do you know why? If you could choose another platform on which to run your monitoring package whose would you choose and why? Thanks in advance.
