We have in place a Network Distributed Sniffer with 5 servers and 2 consoles. In addition, we have a HP 400 workstation running HP OpenView Network Node Manager. We would like to send SNMP traps from the Distributed Sniffer server to the Open View software, and have it display the traps. On the Distributed Sniffer Server, We ran "ipinit -p" and set the SNMP trap address to the HP openview node. Traps are indeed received by that node, and the trapd.log file contains messages that look like: 715978180 6 Tue Sep 08 16:19:40 1992 <none> T WARNING: inva lid SNMPTrap packet from agent 143.202.54.6 source A pid -1 But, the event is not registered to the Open View program. The Ethernet frame looks like: Received 258 bytes from (143.202.54.59) -- 0: 30 81 ff 02 01 00 04 06 70 75 62 6c 69 63 a4 81 0.......public.. 16: f1 06 0a 2b 06 01 04 01 6e 01 01 01 00 04 04 8f ...+....n....... 32: ca 36 3b 02 01 06 02 01 03 41 04 03 bb 9d 80 30 .6;......A.....0 48: 81 d0 30 14 06 0e 2b 06 01 04 01 6e 01 01 01 01 ..0...+....n.... 64: 01 01 01 01 41 02 20 26 30 13 06 0e 2b 06 01 04 ....A. &0...+... 80: 01 6e 01 01 01 01 01 01 02 01 02 01 01 30 2c 06 .n...........0,. 96: 0e 2b 06 01 04 01 6e 01 01 01 01 01 01 03 01 04 .+....n......... 112: 1a 49 64 6c 65 20 31 30 20 6d 69 6e 75 74 65 73 .Idle 10 minutes 128: 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 30 13 06 0e 2b 0...+ 144: 06 01 04 01 6e 01 01 01 01 01 01 04 01 02 01 02 ....n........... 160: 30 13 06 0e 2b 06 01 04 01 6e 01 01 01 01 01 01 0...+....n...... 176: 05 01 02 01 00 30 13 06 0e 2b 06 01 04 01 6e 01 .....0...+....n. 192: 01 01 01 01 01 06 01 02 01 03 30 16 06 0e 2b 06 ..........0...+. 208: 01 04 01 6e 01 01 01 01 01 01 07 01 41 04 2a ac ...n........A.*. 224: e7 39 30 1e 06 0e 2b 06 01 04 01 6e 01 01 01 01 .90...+....n.... 240: 01 01 08 01 04 0c 44 45 43 20 20 20 32 44 38 39 ......DEC 2D89 256: 35 45 Has anyone sent SNMP traps from DSS to Open View?
