I've recently installed a link between two SCO Unix sites running PPP. I
have found a couple of problems.
The various modems and port configurations have revealed that PPP disables
hardware flow control (rtsflow, ctsflow) when it takes control of the port.
In my case the modem interfaces are configured at 38.4kbps fixed and the
lack of flow control allows rcp/ftp/etc to overrun the modem link. I'm using
Digiboard's PC/16em and can tell the Digiboard drivers to turn on flow
control AFTER PPP has taken over the port. This appears to be the only way
to transfer files over the link.
A second problem is that to get the SCO Unix OS to let the Digiboard run
at 115.2kbps Digiboard has an option in the drivers to map 50, 75 and 110
bps to 57.6, 75, and 115.2kbps repectively. Apparently PPP doesn't work
correctly at these lower(higher) speeds.
My question is have either of these problems been addressed by anyone
else and have you come up with a work around. Secondly, is SCO working
on this problem?
Thanks in advance.
