A reminder of:
The First Annual BEAM Robot Olympics and Micromouse Competition:
Humber College Lakeshore Campus
Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Nov 2 and Nov 3, 1991
Sponsored by:
IEEE Canada, Humber College and the University of Waterloo.
The BEAM Robot Olympics is not so much a series of technological
competitions as a chance for robot enthusiasts to present their
designs to each other, the press, and the public. It is also a
open forum for anyone who wants to get started in the field to
compete and compare. Any and every robot will be considered so
long as it does not come from a kit or store. Robots of similar
ability will be pitted against each other in simple competitions,
but generally robots will be judged on sophistication of behavior,
novelty of design and quality of hardware.
Basically, if you built it, we'd like to see it. The show will
feature devices from across North America. Over 30 teams have
promised to show with over 50 robotic devices. Strong catagories
for these first games are: Sumo-wrestle, Solaroller, Design
competition and Micromouse. Potential competitors are, of course,
still welcome to show up on the competition weekend, even with
unfinished devices. All entrant devices will be photographed,
detailed and included in a dossier which will be mailed out to
interested parties after the event. Price as yet unclear but
it will be mailed out free to all competitors who pay the
registration fee ($35. $15 for students).
For competitors who wish to take advantage of our Holiday Inn
accomidation, please call: Holiday Inn, Holiday Dr. Etobicoke,
(416)621-2121. Ask for Teresa Reis. Mention you're a competitor
of the Micromouse competition to get the discount rate of $59.00
per night. This hotel is where the big competitor breakfast will
be held on Sunday, Nov 3, so please call the above if you wish to
make arrangements. Thanks.
Tell your friends. Open to the public. Should be a good show.
More info available on request.
Is all.
