A colleague of mine remembers reading that it was possible to write protect an IDE hard disk by writing a value to one of the controller registers. This disables writes to the disk and the mode can only be undone by booting or power cycling the computer. Anyone have a reference or know of where I can find information on this technique? ---- Gary Murakami | murakami@hac2arpa.hac.com Hughes Training Inc.| murky@hti.hac.com West Covina, Calif. |
