Hello,
A friend of my is a programmer who uses Unisys' CTOS OS. He
is interested in writing a security program that people can
use to encrypt sensitive (but not classified) files.

He would like to use DES encryption, but needs to get more
information about it. Is the algorithm for DES in the public
domain, or do you need a license to use it in a piece of
software? Where can my friend obtain the actual specification
for DES ? Is it available on the internet?

thanks,

Brett Bobley
