I'm exploring the concept of using our aging campus mainframe to do network backups of the campus UNIX & PC boxes...... our thoughts are that we would solicit from the individual users on each machine which directories were more valuable than others and then we would custom taylor the program to do the work during the wee hours of twilight via ftp. Letting the users make the choices seems the best way to aviod issues of privacy, where they are given the opportunity to disclose the data they want kept up to date and the secret stuff would have to be their own responsibility! dmc
