Security perception survey.
----------------------------------
I am conducting this survey as a part of a project for an
MSc in Information Security at Royal Holloway, University of London.
My project is based on how we get the security message across and
how this message may be improved.
I work full time in the computer industry, and been involved with security
for some time. I am concerned that while security is a dry topic, there
is considerable room for improvement in the methods that security
professionals use to make people aware of problems
caused by inadequate security measures when applied
to computer information and systems.
This survey is aimed at anyone who uses computers in their workplace.
Please take part no matter at what level you perceive you are, and mail
all surveys to paul@nadir.demon.co.uk.
Please note that I am not asking for any company specific information.
All mail addresses will be discarded unless you request survey results.
(See end of survey).
Thank you.
Paul Andrews.
An apology.

[cut] : All mail addresses will be discarded unless you request survey results. [cut] I can see that the employer of anyone who fills this in will be getting a call in the near future. For example lets have a look at question 6 6a N Saleman to sys administrator "Do YOU realise that Security Awareness training is vital... let's arrange an meeting to discuss this in more detail..." OR 6a Y 6b N Saleman to sys administrator "Do YOU realise that Security Awareness training needs to be followed up in this fast changing evironment .... Let's arrange an meeting to discuss this in more detail..." If your company has good security arrangements the last thing you should be doing is filling in this survay. If you wish to help Paul Andrews then forward this to you in house Security Administration so that they can answer if they think it appropriate. If you do not have some one responsible for security, then I suggest that you appoint someone and mail (not email) Paul he can (will?) pass these details along to someone who can advise you for a sutible fee. Alternativly the someone can buy a book on the subject and start to learn about the basics of theses things before passing shuch information over a public network. Reagrds Philip Shearer
