I recently made a post about my interest in long-running computations,
and from the responses I've received, I see that many people are interested
in this problem.

I'm wondering if people can refer me to papers dealing with how various
systems currently do authentication.

I am interested in distributed systems where principals must have some
authority in order to use services etc...
