Draham Yes. Start up xprism2, plot a function (e.g. 'x'), then adjust the axes options & attributes as you like; then use 'HIDE' to remove the graph from the axes. To better use space, set the axes option 'Plot Legend' to 'off'. bring up a 'putimage' window with the image that will get the axes. Now resize the Xprism2-workspace until the image fits in the plot area. Select 'Output' in the Xprism2 form and make a screen dump of the axes workspace. (make shure the workspace is not obstructed when you hit 'return' in the output pane). This screen dump file can then be combined with your image by vinsert. As vinsert doesn't like mapped files or different number of bands on its inputs, so you will have to stuff the xprism2 workspace file through vmapdata first. The fastest way to find the upper left corner for the insert is to bring the screen dump into putimage and move the mouse to the max of the Y axis. You can then read the coordinates for vinsert from the bottom of the putimage window. This may all sound a bit clumsy and complicated, but once you tried it and got your axes dump file(s) set up, it's straightforward. \Peter
