Hope someone can steer me somewhere --

 I have written a Macintosh application that I am trying to 
 have published.  

 To aid in my endeavor, I need to try to estimate the market
 potential for my program.  Does anyone know of services which
 provide market data (number of users/software packages, etc)
 in fairly specific areas of the computer graphics world?

 Or are their publishers, distributers, or publications which would
 be particularly helpful to me?

 Or has someone else been through this and has some good ideas to
 share?
