elm 2.2 Patch #0

Summary: This is an official patch for elm 2.2 system. Please apply it.
Priority: Low

Somehow two large section of the Filter guide got deleted from the
official distribution as in comp.sources.unix. This fixes that. Those
that got the submission directly from dsinc do not have this problem.
This patch does not bump the revision number due to it not effecting
everybody.

Fix:	From rn, say "| patch -p -N -d DIR", where DIR is your elm source
directory. Outside of rn, say "cd DIR; patch -p -N <thisarticle".
If you don't have the patch program, apply the following by hand,
or get patch (version 2.0, latest patchlevel).

	After patching:
		make
		make install

If patch indicates that patchlevel is the wrong version, you may need
to apply one or more previous patches, or the patch may already
have been applied. See the patchlevel.h file to find out what has or
has not been applied. In any event, don't continue with the patch.

If you are missing previous patches they can be obtained from me:

	Syd Weinstein
	syd@dsinc.UUCP

The patches are available from the dsinc archive server
Send the following message to archive-server@dsinc.UUCP for
	a list of available patches:

+ .hu What Forwarded Messages Look Like
+ .sp
+ When a message is forwarded to another user by the \f2action\f1 being specified
+ as ``forward \f2address\f1'', then the program can generate one of two styles
+ of message. If the message is to you, then it'll simply add it to your mailbox
+ in such a way as to ensure that the return address is that of the person who
+ sent the message and so on.
+ .sp
+ If not, then the message is enclosed in a message of the form:

+ The subject of the actual message is the same as the subject of the
+ message being forwarded, but in quotes. The `From:' field indicates
+ how the message was sent, and the `X-Filtered-By:' identifies what
+ version of filter is being used.

+ .hu Areas to Improve
+ .sp
+ While the \f2filter\f1 program as presented herein is obviously a
+ nice addition to the set of tools available for dealing with electronic
+ mail, there are some key features that are missing and will be added in
+ the future based on demand.
+ .sp
+ As I see it, the main things missing are;
+ .in .5i

  .ti -\n(TWu
  1. The ability to use regular expressions in the patterns.
