Ours might not use as much CPU because it sleep()s and auto-"nice"s itself, and it also is a daemon, so it puts itself in the background by itself. Ours also works on remote sites (by using finger). If you were using ison, you would say: ison -s "banner Hi there John | write jdoe" jdoe --mg -- --mg mgleason@cse.unl.edu
