I've posted a request for help with compilation for messydos,
now an unix question:

I compiled xvi for ultrix, using the supplied makefile and GCC,
and it works just fine (using it now) except that i haven't been
able to use fmt to reformat lines, as i always do in "the real
vi." I always get a "failed to execute "fmt"" message. I can
run fmt with :! (but why would i want to do it?), but i can't
pipe text into it using (for example) !}fmt. Is there anything
i can do to solve this? This is really bad, and if i can't solve
it i'll be forced to go back to old vi, and i don't want to.
XVI is so nice.
