I have been involved in the production of a report (for the Data Security Group) looking into current research into ways of automatically generating test code and reference implementations (prototypes) from formal descriptions. The work has revealed a large amount of tools currently available in languages such as LOTOS, SDL, and RAISE. but I am unable to find any pointers to work in this field for the formal language Z, and very little for the language VDM (apart from me-too, EPROS and and a VDM-to-SML tra nslator being developed here). I would be interested to here from anyone who has or is developing tools in this area in Z or VDM. This includes translation tools and executable subsets, BUT NOT type checkers, syntax directed editors or proof tools. The report is due for publication soon so prompt replies would be hoped for. Thankyou in advance Andrew Harry (Scientific officer) Data Security Group, National Physical Laboratory, Queens Road, Teddington, Middlesex, TW11 0LW, ENGLAND Tel: +4481 943 7009 Fax: +4481 977 7091
