If it were built into the language, he *couldn't* do that.  While your
example using keywords in a programming language is a valid exception,
in general, strings in a program must be translated/translatable.  In
the initial example, days of the week, this is certainly the case, and
in fact, the translations have already been done for me on my system
(provided I use strftime to access them).
