What does auto_ptr<T>::reset () do?

Howdy,

The April 1995 working paper does not [IMHO] explain what:

1. auto_ptr<T>::reset () does with its current value, i.e., does it
delete it?
2. it [reset] returns.

Does anybody have the answers?

Thanks,

-- Randy
