In article AA09216@granados.sema.es, Gabriel Sanchez Gutierrez <gsg@sema.es> writes: >Any plan/idea about including STL hash tables into the library? > A hash table proposal was presented (twice), but the committee decided it was too late to include it, given the schedule. It was rejected (twice) solely due to timing, not due to technical merit. The hash table proposal was about half the size of the original STL proposal, which did not include hash tables. The STL proposal was accepted in March 1994, and details are still being worked out. The committee felt it could not risk taking on that extra load of work, given the amount of work already in the queue. Implementors may, and probably will, choose to include the public-domain version of STL hash tables in their libraries, but it is very unlikely to be included in this round of standardization. --- Steve Clamage, stephen.clamage@eng.sun.com [ comp.std.c++ is moderated.
