I notice the phrase "like Pascal" in your feature list appears quite often. Why then, do you not prefer Pascal (or Borland's Version)? Of course, when I look at developing Delphi applications, I'm constantly asking why Pascal can't do this or that which C++ does so well. The answer to your questions can best be found in Stroustrup's "Design and Evolution of C++" which discusses in detail how certain language features came about, why they are the way they are, and examples of feature requests that were rejected and why. After you have the understanding you'll be able to request feature changes that are in the context of the language you're dealing with. Meanwhile, this book will bring up all kinds of new issues and challanges. A very enjoyable read! later, Ben Scherrey scherrey@proteus-tech.com er... Who's John Galt? [ comp.std.c++ is moderated.
