Anyone know of an effort under way to write a freely distributable >ANSI C validation suite? Anyone want to detail what would need to be present >to be considered a true validation suite? First off, you'd need to get the ANSI C spec. $50 from ANSI. Then, you sit down and write lots of little C programs to verify particular points in the standard specification. That's the easy part. The hard part is going through the C language itself, and writing code to validate various operations of arrays, pointers, etc. etc. etc. While writing test suites is not all that hard, it is time consuming and does require a good deal of advance planning.
