I want to token paste after macro expansion...any strategies?

What I want is:

#ifdef __STDC__
#define PASTE(X, Y)     X##Y
#else
#define PASTE(X,Y)      X/**/Y
#endif


#define A stringA
#define B stringB
PASTE(A,B)

to come up with
stringAstringB

instead of
AB
