Well my first sight of a UNIX box was in the early 80's and the
constants were there (hacked 32V).

Maybe my postings have been a little clouded. I'm not too concerned
with the lack of the constants. Like Henry, I just want to know the
reasons for the exclusion of various things. Anyway its all ancient
history now. We should be preparing for the next battle in the
Pascalisation of C (maybe all these people could go and join the C++
crowd and leave plain C alone? You can have your safe pointers!)
