In article <14382@ksr.com>, jfw@ksr.com (John F. Woods) sites the relevent passage from the standard: > "There may be unnamed padding within a structure object, but not > at its beginning, as necessary to achieve the appropriate alignment." This wording was chosen very carefully -- in particular, the use of "appropriate" as opposed to "necessary". It is the implementor who decides what alignment is "appropriate", so anything goes. ---- Larry Jones, SDRC, 2000 Eastman Dr., Milford, OH 45150-2789 513-576-2070 Domain: lawrence.jones@sdrc.com IBMMAIL: USSDR7DR at IBMMAIL Bad news, Mom.
