It has been apparent for sometime now that there are, and will be, a large number of Integration Frameworks in the CASE, CAD, CAE, CAM, OA,MIS, EIS, et al. worlds. These Frameworks will need to cooperate. The Framework Interoperability Group is a proposed effort to gather any and all interested parties together, from all of these disciplines, to begin to discuss the issues surrounding Framework Interoperability. It is proposed that this group will be completely open to all, and that it will be international both in participation and in venues. The first meeting of the FIG is proposed for late July or early August. If you are seriously interested in participating in such a group to help advance the open, international, multidiscipline cooperation between integration frameworks please contact: George Tatge Software Engineering Systems Hewlett Packard Company Mail Stop 81 3404 E. It sounds very similar. How much overlap do you think there will be between the STEP work for the definition of common information models and the specifications necessary for framework interoperability? Within CFI the programming interface between the CAD tools has been derived from an information model. Is this the kind of approach that you are considering taking? I hope I don't sound too negative by asking so many questions, I'm just trying to figure out where this would fit in.
