Submitted-by: brent@spss.com (Brent Lambert) Several platforms implement some form of shared objects & libraries, and/or dynamic linking & loading. Does, or will, Posix address these types of features? Does, or will, any other standard? Volume-Number: Volume 29, Number 52

Does, or will, >any other standard? Shared libraries, done right, are invisible to the user and hence do not need standardizing. Shared memory is one of the innumerable goodies that POSIX.4 is designing, er excuse me I mean standardizing. Opinions about POSIX.4 vary. I'm not aware of anyone working on standards for dynamic linking/loading. Frankly, my opinion would be that we're nowhere near understanding it well enough to standardize it.
