New software:

bloxed - yet another tetris variant. Description:
         Bloxed is a Tetris game with a few unusual features. Most
         importantly a two player mode. File size: 600K.

thynx - a collection of utilities in a single program.

Three new programs from Dick Alstein:

abode. Description:

Here is the latest version of !Abode, my combination of desktop
utilities. Additions since the previous version:
* Caret blinker
* "Pull front" hotkey. Pulls the window that the pointer is over
to the front, so that you can make it fully visible even when its
title bar is covered by other windows. If the window is already
uncovered, it is moved to the back of the window stack.

snake - a game. Description:

The new version of the !Snake game. Minor modifications:
* Better handling of mode change when returning to the desktop
* Speed and sound can also be switched off the desktop.

templed - a template editor. File size 150K. Some features:
 
* Icons and Windows are edited from a dialogue window; flags, colours, button
  types etc. are set by clicking on buttons in the dialogue window, the
  update is made when you click on an "action" button.
* Moving, editing, copying and deleting of selections (multiple icons)
  is possible.
* Icon coordinates can be locked to a grid.
* Icons can be moved to other template windows.
* "Icon info" window shows number, position and size of the icon that
  the pointer is over.
* "Statistics" window shows the amount of memory that the templates would need
  when used in a program.
* Icons can be aligned and spaced out (as in DrawPlus).
* Window can be moved and resized directly, even if they don't have a title bar
  or scroll bars.
* Supports the use of outline fonts and the Interface module.
 



 
To retrieve a file from the archive, send a message to 
info-server@newcastle.ac.uk with the following content:

line-limit 1000
request: sources
topic: archimedes filename
request: end

where filename is replaced by the name of the file that you want.
A filename of 'index' will send you the latest index file.
A filename of 'tail_index' will send you the list of the last 50 files added
to the archive.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SOFTWARE IS VIRUS FREE BEFORE SENDING IT TO ME
