On 14 Jan 97 I wrote the end piece of a saga about using SQ in DOS

"I ended up with a SyQuest cartridge that refused to
verify after repeated re-formatting to RISC OS using !PowerMgr.
It got exactly half way then crashed the filer. Fortunately,
as I bought all my SQ stuff direct, that nice Steve in their
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Technical Department has arranged for me to return it, for
checking and either reformatting to factory state (Mac)
or replacement. It seems that the low-level format is corrupted.

"This goes also for another cartridge that refused to verify fully:
just a hangup with the filer verify ......... etc"

SyQuest have replaced both cartridges with new ones, entirely without
quibbles or any adverse comment about using them on an Acorn machine, by
return of post. That's impressive service for which I am very grateful.

Their procedure, in case it helps someone out there, was:

14 Jan 97
1. Phone Tech Help (Gary/Steve) on 0131 338 0102
2. Steve faxed a 'returns form'. (comes by post if no fax)
3. I filled in form with Invoice Nos, Serial Nos, fault details,
etc, and returned it by fax. (send by post if no fax)
15 Jan 97
4. I picked up a phone message from my answering machine giving
a 'Return Number', wrote it on the form and sent off the form
and cartridges by registered post at 14:00.
18 Jan 97
5. The replacement cartridges arrived in the post at 08:30.

I would assume that items returned through a dealer would get the same
excellent sevice.

Brian.
