I Thought some of you might be interested in the review published in the New Scientist of 17th May 1997. It is entitled Collected Works and is a review by Barry Fox of four dial-up networking products for the PC. Some selected passages .... "In theory, Dial-Up Networking can be configured to dial any one of several Internet SP's and then plug them into the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. In practice, the links between Dial-Up Networking and Internet Explorer are fragile: like chromosomes during cell division they break and mix, and each new setting may hijack an older one." "I would not wish the experience of testing several systems on my own worst enemy. They fight inside Windows and Dial-Up Networking like ferrets in a sack. Then, when one service is dialled, Internet Explorer may display the greetings page for a rival." So much for Microsoft and for "Industry Standards". I'm just glad I use an Acorn. :-) Cheers Steve -- --. --. --. --. : : --- --- .---------------------------------------------. |_| |_| | _ | | | | |_ | |Internet provider for all Acorn RISC machines| | | |\ | | | | |\| | | '---------------------------------------------' | | | \ |_| |_| | | |__ | sthomas@argonet.co.uk Tue,27 May 1997.18:42:14
