I've just upgraded to RISC OS 4 - not as smoothly as I would hope though. The first problem occurred during the installation of the software from the CD. It barfed with an error saying that there was already a file Diversions.!Flasher.!Help. I clicked Continue and the installer then installed again! This time it barfed on another file, and so I clicked Continue again. This time it warned me that I already had an InactivRes and an InactivOld and invited me to delete one of them. So, I deleted InactivOld, thinking I already had the backup in InactivRes. NOT SO! The installer had backed up its own !Boot and I now had two copies of that in the Inactiv folders and not my original. At that point, I decided to quit the installer as it couldn't get past the files it was complaining about. At least the new !Boot was there, even if the new Apps and Utilities weren't. I did the ROM upgrade OK and rebooted first time with no problems. So, I went to my CD backup of my !Boot which I had made with CDBurn. I'd had problems with CDBurn only doing 24 files to a directory, but I thought I'd be all right. Sod's law says that the stuff I needed was in the bit that didn't get copied. Next step was to configure my network card. I used the Network window in the Configure application, but it wouldn't save. It just gave an error message 'Not open for update'. This problem is still unresolved. In the meantime I've copied over my Choices.Internet folder from the original (that was saved) and it works. But trying to save to it gives the same error. I had to use StrongEd until I could get Zap up and running, but the version inside RO4 kept quitting with data abort errors. It also had a nasty habit of opening up applications when they were clicked on alternate occasions. Weird. Anyway Zap's working now and doesn't misbehave. I lost WebServe and !Webcache from my !Boot.Resources as they were directories 25 and 26 and didn't get copied by CDBurn, so it looks as though I might have to reinstall from the original CD. Which I'm not looking forward to as it will probably screw up RISC OS 4 with old toolbox modules etc. Which brings me to the question, what modules should I have inside 310.Modules.Network and 310.Modules.Network.URL? I don't seem to have as many as I should and Browse won't load up without them HTTP is one wants and that's nowhere to be found :-( Could some kind soul let me have a list of the required modules - if possible with version numbers so that I can try and extract them from archives. Anyway, apart from the above it's looking good. I need an answer to the Network config not saving, but at least it's working. I have the following from an apparently perfect RO4 install: [NB my HDs called Joe] ADFS::Joe.$.!Boot.Resources.!System.310.Modules.Network.Internet ADFS::Joe.$.!Boot.Resources.!System.310.Modules.Network.MManager ADFS::Joe.$.!Boot.Resources.!System.310.Modules.Network.Resolver ADFS::Joe.$.!Boot.Resources.!System.310.Modules.Network.URL ADFS::Joe.$.!Boot.Resources.!System.310.Modules.Network.URL.File ADFS::Joe.$.!Boot.Resources.!System.310.Modules.Network.URL.URL Best of Luck sorting it out! -- John Cartmell - Manchester, UK MAUG - RiscStation preview was 25th June more details of the MAUG program and RiscStation later http://www.cartmell.demon.co.uk to be updated soon

Are your Choices:Internet files locked? Or does the directory not exist?
Or is your disc locked? Maybe some files have not copied from the RISC OS
4 CD?

Oh dear! :-)

Er, yes. The Browse/RisCafe installer could well do that.

I would suggest adding:
!System.310.Modules.Network.URI (file)
!System.310.Modules.Network.URL (directory - all of it)

Try opening the '!Installer' (from the Browse/RisCafe CD) up with something
like SparkFS and copy the required files manually. Or try the same with
the newer modules available in the update - http://www.acorn.com/browser
