I've been following this thread from the start, and so far all the
posts have been reasonable and restrained. Apart from yours.

I don't think anyone has said this.

It's not the fact that they are old, just that they're expensive and
have been superseded.

> Elite's old and you play that.

Actually, I don't.

> What about keeping an open mind.

If BBSs had anything to offer me then I would use them. They don't, so
I don't. I'm not too sure where an open mind comes into it.

Actually it will probably cost less, but even if the cost is the same
the internet has a lot more to offer than any one BBS.

> And has anyone ever heard of Friends and Family before?

If you had taken a second to think about that question before you asked
it then you would have realised that it is irrelevant. Friends and
Family can be used for internet numbers as well, you know...

> Doesn't seem so.

You seem quite uptight about this. Did you recently invest heavily in a
BBS, by any chance? ;-)

> I'm sorry,

Does seem so to me. Your post was quite unreasonable given the
civilised discussion which preceded it.

> but I thought acorn users were more open minded.

And I thought they were more polite than you are being. Are you annoyed
that the majority of people seem to be disagreeing with you?

Not true. As I said above, people have stopped using BBSs because they
have been superseded, not just because they are old. The numerous
benefits of the internet have been pointed out by many people, but you
choose to ignore them and accuse us of neglecting BBSs simply because
they are old. This is not the case, and AFAICR no one has said or
implied that it is.
