Simtec 139 (+VAT?) at BETT yesterday. Will fit all known types of 4MB
upgrades. Plugs into MEMC socket on 33MHz A5000. 25MHz models need the
soldered in MEMC replaced with a socket to take the upgrade.

Try AJS. They will not do the upgrade themselves (AFAIK) but will do an
exchange board if they have an 8MB A5000 in stock.

This is difficult to answer. I decided to go for a second hand RPC 600
rather than upgrade an A5000 with a larger HD and a CDROM drive and possibly
more memory although memory was only occassionally a problem for me. The
CDROM was going to be cheaper for the RPC particularly with OS3.6 on, but
the deciding factor was the appearance of the StrongARM. I use Fireworkz
which runs very slowly and really demands a faster processor. For me it was
a spur of the moment decision to reserve an SA under the clan offer. I know,
must people buy the computer first ... I did but only just!
Having said all that I never really exhausted the capabilities of the A5000
and I was able to pass it to my son so we still get good use from it.
