I'm using the RISC OS 4 Acorn CDFSSoftATAPI driver on my IDE CD drive and
am getting a strange effect.

If I don't dismount a CD, then changing it and clicking again on the
drive icon shows the same directory as before - it doesn't update to the
new CD. If I then try and open a subdirectory in the window it opens but
shows corrupted file names.

The same thing happens with my SCSI CD ROM using the Acorn SCSICD driver.

Shift booting so I bypass !Boot does exactly the same thing.

If I dismount a disc and change it, then it works correctly.

I'm sure it didn't happen with RO 3.7, but I'm not going to put the chips
back in to find out.

Can anyone else please confirm/refute that it happens and suggest whether
it's a CDFS or driver problem?

Cheers,

Ray D

Yes, you are right. On my RISC OS 4.02 machine with a Cumana I SCSI
card and CDROMFS I do get the same effect. Not dismounting before
inserting a new CD shows the last CD contents.

On my RISC OS 3.70 machine with an Alsystems Power-tec III and CDROMFS
everything is ok. (But the cause why it's working is probably not the
Power-tec!)

Greetings,

Stefan.

Well... no such problems with CDFSSoftATAPISimtec...

Have you checked the cables?
