A3010 for EMail (and the Internet)

I received the following EMail message from someone who saw the "Acorn"
reference in my sig:

"Sorry to bother you on another matter but I notice that you are using an
Acorn machine for internet use. I recently began working in a school
with two Acorn labs and was forced* to buy a second hand 3010 to get
aquainted with the system asap. I am now in another school with no
Acorns whatsoever and so the 3010 has gone to a new home.

The new owner wants to try email via the 3010. What software would you
suggest for him? I' will pass the info on. If you are too busy, no
problem, I am sure he will sort soemthing out for himself sooner or
later. 8-)"

But I've never been near the 3000 series, my Acorns have been a BBC B, an
Arch440 and this SARiscPC, so I don't know about their spec, RiscOS
versions etc, or pitfalls. Is there any 3010 specific advice I can pass
on?

I've posted this in both a.a.voyager and c.s.a.misc - and set follow ups
to c.s.a.misc.
