See "de Herziene Woordenlijst Nederlandse taal" for the official spelling. This list was made for both the Dutch and Belgian government,so even the Flemish should obey to it. Why sent a mailing in Dutch to an international newsgroup ? [resists temptation to write in Dutch] And why use English? I could also point out some spelling errors in your own article, and probably in mine too - like in most articles on the net. Perhaps Antoon isn't even a native speaker of Dutch, or he hangs on to some arcane Flemish spelling. Let him. Of course, you're not the first to post this kind of comment so wie de schoen past, trekke hem aan: Strangely, I've seen native English speakers pointing out other people's spelling mistakes as flaws in argumentation. Perhaps they would like to continue that argument in, say, Norwegian to put them on a more equal footing with their opponent? Not speaking perfect English does not make a speaker's argument invalid. But this post wasn't too bad (see below). What really annoys me is the kind of article that quotes a whole article just to point out that ``that really should have been a `[A-Za-z]' because ...''. Please refrain from this kind of posting. It is usually incredibly uninformative, off-topic and rather boring too. So there. [extremely helpful and friendly answers to original questions snipped] Steven PS No prizes to be won for finding flaws in spelling, grammar or style in this article. Anyone attempting to do so will be forced to read Dutch literature out loud, thus ruining their throats.
