Is this a bug with > Demon, Termite, Newsbase or TTFN? I've experienced this several times with my Demon, TCPIP, and Newsbase combination. It seems that something goes awry during the article fetching process, as I've quite often watched the article count totally overshoot the number of message-IDs !TCPIP downloaded (by a large margin), before I resort to killing the transfer manually. If it was a demon problem I would expect to hear a lot more about it from other platforms (there has been talk of problems with demon's news servers, though), but the fact that we're both seeing the same symptoms while using different NNTP clients does point the finger that way.
