In that case RETAIN the ACORN name. Since the war many companies
have changed their traditional names and even well known Logos.
As Product Line Manager I resisted it, so did my MD and Distributors
worldwide (and even Users) but the changes (IIRC some 6 or 7) were
imposed by a succession of 'Managers' at US HQ, who felt that it was
all too old fashioned and 'we' needed to generate a 'modern image'
and 'look to the future'. In reality they were no more than bright
ideas by new people who needed to prove to others that they had
fresh ideas. Obviously it changed again with every new manager and
on one occasion even changed back to the 'traditional' name and Logo.
It was driven home to when a new manager went on a fact finding and
familiarisation and came back in a rage: "I asked a number of our
long established users for their opinion about our YYYY 'products'
and they said" :
"We regret, but we don't use them. We use only the XXXX 'products'."
XXXX was of course the 'original' name of our company and its
products. So we were able to convince 'politically' the people
at US HQ and were 'allowed' to revert to our original 'identity.
Until two years later new managers were appointed and it was changed
again :-(( and again and.....and.....

Grrrr, a number of years ago US HQs designed Arrow Logos to reflect
the Group's image worldwide. It must have cost them a few $100,000
in design fees.
