TrueType to Acorn format fonts

Is it possible to convert PC TrueType format (xxxx.FOT and xxxx.TTF) fonts
into Acorn format fonts? I havd a number of TrueType fonts which I would
like to be able to transfer to the 'proper' side of my RiscPC, but can't. I
know !T1toFont will cope with Type 1 fonts, but it doesn't seem to cope with
the TrueType format (or if it does, I can't work out how!)
Many thanks in advance,

I tried this last week ... have a range of conversion tools for fonts but alas
nothing worked on TrueType :-( Had to go get the Type1 font instead.
If you do find such a wonderful tool I'd be interested in a copy myself.

PC software is available which will convert TrueType fonts into an Adobe
Type 1 fonts (I can't remember it's name of hand) - T1toFont can then
convert into an Acorn font. I don't know of anything which will go directly
from TrueType to Acorn, though.

Anyone happen to know the name of this software then? (And more importantly,
is it PD, and where can I d/l it from?)
Thanks,

I did do this a while ago; I can't remember the name (I had to try four PC
programs before I got one that would work), but it most certainy wasn't PD
:( In fact yesterday (by a massive coincidence which involved a document in
Russian) I took a look through various search engines for something on the
'Net which would do this and couldn't find one (oh, I tell a lie - I found
one that could, but wouldn't save the result unless you paid money... :(
If anyone feels the need to undertake a little programming excerise...
BBFN,
Rich.

By the time you have the Acorn conversions I'll bet the fonts are pretty dire. -- Alan Muscat Grapevine Digital Arts Bridgnorth Shropshire England

On the contrary, they come out exactly the same as the originals -
otherwise, what would be the point in converting them?!?
IIRC some of them had way too many definition points than was absolutely
necessary, but then again these could have been the "woodcut" style ones
scanned from old books...
I will /try/ to find out the name of the PC converter which does TT to Type
1, but one of the fonts I converted was the Jurrasic Park-style font, which
shows how long ago it was since I did this... :)
BBFN,
Rich.

Thanks Rich, I knew you'd manage to come up with something! :-)

Apparently the program I was looking for was FONTOGRAPHER, according to the
chap whose PC I commandeered at the time ;)
So the route is TT->Fontographer=Type1->T12Font=Acorn font
Cheers,
Rich.

Having seen the price of FONTOGRAPHER as advertised on Internet Software
Outlet, I would think it is a lot cheaper to buy ready made outline fonts!
The price, $327.95. By my calculations about 220 UK pounds.
Anybody know of some body with a PC and the prog who will let me use it for
a day?
Cheers
