I hope the stricter readers of this posting will forgive me if I have broken
a NG rule.

As a comparative simpleton, when it comes to computers, I am one of the many
who know and love our beloved platform. Part of the joy is all the
interesting people who use it. For me, "good 'ol' zfc" is something I almost
pine for, in that connection. I don't know where everyone's gone, but the
substitutes were never sutiable for me.
Either,
because of the problems re. groups,
or,
the SPAM effect on email of being swamped by threads of no interest.

Now, PV has not put me up to this, but I have been in touch with him on this
and that for many years and was concerned about the way Argonet was closed.

Two related effects of this were that many people migrated away and never
came back to Orpheus. This had the knock on effect on "good 'ol' zfc".

I never cease to tell friends that there is a very good ISP run by a friend.
For those who were Argonutters, who have not signed with Orpheus, do think
about it. I am sure this would be to the benefit of all of us and our
beloved platform.

Some time ago, on one of these groups, I hazarded an ignorant guess that
there might be 100,000 of us worldwide. PV reckoned that he thought more
like 10,000 ! I wonder if that is above "the critical mass".

Certainly, a strong, friendly ISP would help.
