On the subject of speedup, I've just found out why the speed up code (only
processing Wimp_Poll's after each 6 lines of the drawing had been created)
wasn't getting a speed up. I found that the end of line handler was calling
wimp_update_wind every time. Having changed this to a wimp_force_redraw, the
redraw during page build has sped up by a factor of about 5 (estimate) on my
A440/1, and by between 2 and 3 on Risc PC.

Simon Truss's gif2spr is used for GIF89 images. I may add a
configuration option to ArcWebImg to allow GIF87 to be sent to gif2spr
as well. The problem is that we could really do with gif2sprFSI as the
quality of the output from ChangeFSI is far superior due to the FSI
bit. Compare the two Babylon 5 logos on the default home page. The
CFSI one looks *much* better than the gif2spr one. I suspect this is
the reason for the far slower conversion, plus all the baggage for
handling other types. gif2spr is excellent in terms of speed and
handling of GIF89 images, though, and I wouldn't be without it.
