This posting is of concern only to people who:

  1) use my SyslogD module as a general purpose logging tool.
  2) run my Gopher server
  3) run my Finger server
  4) run very old versions of my HTTP server
  5) run FreeNews 1.00 or 1.00a

--------------------------------------------

I need the SWI chunk provided by the SysLogD module back for use with
ArcWeb (the chunk &4A240 is registered to ArcWeb anyway). Hence the
new versions of SyslogD (0.06 and later) use a new SWI chunk &4BB00
instead. The SWI chunk name has been changed from "Internet" to
"InternetUtils", as I intend to extend the interface to include many
other TCP/IP stack independent functions. All software which uses the
module will need to be replaced therefore. I have uploaded version 1.00
or both gopherd and fingerd, httpserver is currently at version 1.5 and
hasn't used syslogd for a long time, but very old versions do.

This software can be found via FTP at cslib.ecs.soton.ac.uk in my
directory: /pub/Acorn/freenet/s.brodie/

The current versions of FreeNews use the SyslogD module too.
The next release of FreeNews will also use the new SWI chunk.
You should upgrade as soon as the new version comes out.

ArcWeb will start using the &4A240 SWI chunk very soon now.

Software authors should RMEnsure for InternetUtils 0.06
SWI number offsets within the new chunk remain the same.
Calling by name needs "InternetUtils_Syslog" instead of "Internet_Syslog"
