The serial port on my A410/1 simply refuses to send data anymore. (it was working, and now it ain't). I've checked out the cable, and attempted to do a back-to-back, with no joy. So, rather than spending mega-$$$ on getting my machine repaired (and worse, being without it for ages), I was wondering: a) About a year ago someone posted saying they had ended up socketing one of the serial related chips because it failed so regularly - if anyone has the details then I'd like to check this out, please. b) Can anyone tell me if the Serial Port twin-serial card has software to allow one port to behave transparently as if it were the internal port? I'm very tempted to buy this card for two new serial ports that work, rather than have the broken one repaired for quite probably a similar amount of money... aTdHvAaNnKcSe, stuart -- Stuart Boutell, Spider Systems Ltd, Edinburgh - stuartb@spider.co.uk
