TITLE
AmigaMUD
VERSION
1.0
AUTHOR
Chris Gray (cg@ami-cg.GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA)
DESCRIPTION
AmigaMUD is a written-for-the-Amiga MUD (Multi-User-Dungeon)
system for the Amiga computers. It provides a multi-player text
adventure system with added graphics and sound output, and mouse
and keypad input. The system can also be used to write and run
single-player text/graphics adventures.
This release includes full documentation (including information
for those who want to program in AmigaMUD). Also included is a
standard scenario (adventure), which has six quests, in-MUD mail,
a bulletin board, on-line building (create new rooms and objects
right in the running game), and more.
The AmigaMUD system can be used standalone (an included program
can work with multiple modem connections for remote players), or
can be used with most BBS systems. Some BBS systems do not support
the use of the full graphics client, unfortunately.
This release consists of five archives:
AMClnt-1.0.lha - the files needed to just run the special
client with a server on some other system.
AMSrv-1.0.lha - the additional files needed to run the
server on your Amiga. This includes the "binary" of the
standard scenario.
AMDoc-1.0.lha - extensive documentation on using the AmigaMUD
programming language. Both tutorial and reference type
material is included. The standard scenario is described
in varying levels of detail.
AMScen-1.0.lha - the source (in the AmigaMUD programming
language) for the standard scenario. This is 31,000 lines
of Draco-like source.
AMCastle-1.0.lha - this is another set of database files,
along with an IFF ILBM image file containing tile
graphics. This scenario is a demonstration of allowing the
player to walk around in a 100 room castle with 4 main
levels. The castle physically makes sense - I have built
it out of Lego bricks!
V1.0 of AmigaMUD does not yet directly support AmiTCP connections.
Use "telser.device" (not included or tested by myself) to allow
that. Work is in progress to allow AmigaMUD to directly work with
AmiTCP/IP.
NEW FEATURES
There are many new features and bug fixes in this release. See
file "ChangesFromV0.9" in the AMClnt-1.0.lha archive for details.
The original version of the AMSrv-1.0.lha archive is missing the
"SMUD" program. A new version of that archive has been uploaded,
and archive "SMUD-1.0.lha", containing just that program, has been
uploaded.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
AmigaMUD has run on V1.3, V2.04 and V3.1 Amiga systems. It has run
on A1000, A2500, A3000, A4000T, A500 and CDTV. It is system
friendly, and was developed with "Enforcer" always running.
A system running the server should either have a hard drive or lots
of RAM. A system expecting to support lots of simultaneous players
should have a fast CPU and about two Megs of free RAM.
A system running the client needs only 512K and a floppy drive.
AVAILABILITY
AmigaMUD has been posted on newsgroup comp.binaries.amiga.
AmigaMUD has been uploaded to the AmigaArts library on CompuServe.
AmigaMUD has been uploaded to ftp.amigalib.com . (Fish archive)
AmigaMUD has been uploaded to AmiNet, where it can be found in
(assuming the main AmiNet site as the host):
