I wrote and posted some years back a macro for FinalCopy/FinalWriter which inserted a document from disk at the current insertion point. It was one of my first efforts at Arexx programming, but it worked. I've now found a replacement for that, which I heartily recommend to all FinalCopy/FinalWriter users. Insert_Text, by Mike Fitzgerald, eliminates my macro's cumbersome 'open a new window, load the file, mark, cut, close window, paste' routine with an elegant use of the clipboard through rexxutil.library. It's simpler, faster, better. I believe the Aminet file (/pub/aminet/biz/swood) is 'Insert_Text.lha'. The actual macro name is Insert_Text_Clip, which originally put me off because Text_Clips are supported in FinalCopy/FinalWriter, so why a macro...the name is a bit misleading, the macro works superbly, so: trash mine, get Mike's. You'll be much happier. Stan Anderson

BTW, please note that Mike's macro works with ASCII files, but not with FinalWriter documents...if you're constructing a large document from smaller ones, or inserting frequently used text (but too large to make it a text clip), keep mine around.... stan Anderson
